Le Tigre’s JD Samson Gets Artsy with Dyke TV Lesbian Rocker Creates ‘Utopia’ in April’s Show
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 7, 2006
Sapphic viewers pining for lesbian programming don’t have to wait until “The L Word” returns next year. Dyke TV announced today that its April show features an inside interview with JD Samson of the lesbian rock trio Le Tigre. JD discusses her gender identity, what she really thinks about being a “sex symbol”, and the future of the LGBT movement, while preparing for an opening at Soho’s Deitch Projects for her calendar “JD’s Lesbian Utopia”. Dyke TV also takes viewers to the opening, where fans get a first look at Cass Bird’s photographs from the calendar and rock out to a performance by Lesbians on Ecstasy inside a rainbow RV.
“Watching Lesbians on Ecstasy play inside the RV was like my dream come true, and then turning around and watching everybody’s faces just, like smiling, was totally utopia to me”, said JD of the opening’s success.
The April show also includes popular cooking segment “Dykes Do Dinner”, a filmmaker’s showcase highlighting the work of writer/director/producer Erin Greenwell, one woman’s view of NYC’s recent anti-war march, and Dyke TV’s unique take on current news stories.
Dyke TV’s April show is currently streaming on its website at http://www.dyketv.org, where each segment can be selected and watched separately. In addition, Dyke TV is broadcast on public access television in 28-minute segments in Manhattan on MNN Mondays at 11:30pm, in Brooklyn on BCAT the fourth Saturday of the month at 7:30pm, and in Greensboro, North Carolina on Cable Channel 8 at various times. The hour-long version of the show is airing in Philadelphia on DuTV Tuesdays at 5:30pm & 11pm and Wednesdays at 11am, and nationwide on satellite cable Free Speech TV (check FSTV schedule for times/dates).
